Rayne Havok’s Birthday Book

LOST SOUL is Available exclusively on Godless

Rayne published Lost Soul on December 31st, (her birthday), so it’s only fitting that since I didn’t get to read it on her birthday, I read it for my birthday! Well, my birthday is tomorrow, so…

A Godless exclusive.

May, drowning in her depression, and desperate for the end, decides that it’s time to let go.

May: “On what was supposed to be my last day alive, I finally found a reason to want to live. But if I wanted to save my soul, I’d have to die for it.”

Synopsis, Godless.com

I feel for May right now, let me tell ya. How heavy everything is in the morning, so hard to move, and already pissed off because you woke up at all. But, for her, a reason to stay sweeps in right before the final credits roll. Did it though? Is there time for her to face her demons before the screen fades to black? That’s what you’re going to find out when you scoop up your copy of LOST SOUL @ Godless.com.

Yay!

This is a really great story, and a side of Rayne I’ve never read before. I’m not surprised – not at all. I’m excited to see what else may be hiding under all that blood, viscera, and revenge. She does have a little something to say for everyone who reads it though…

‘For first time readers, please know that this is not my normal genre of writing and read the others with caution.’

Rayne Havok
(Super Depressed is like regular depressed, but I get to wear this nifty cape.)

Until next time boys & girls …

There’s something wicked happening in Donn, Texas!

I am surprised how much this story creeped me out!

Normally, I prefer to have Alexa read to me, or even the TTS in the Kindle Fire I have is pretty good – compared to my last Kindle anyway. My point being… I’m used to Alexa, and my older, British mom type reading me my extreme horror when necessary. In most of the audio books I’ve tried, the narrator pulls me out if the story, if I’m ever able to get there in the first place.
That is not the case here. The woman doing the audio for Donn, TX made the story! I’m going to have to come back to edit her name in I think. I can only remember Micha. Just so you know, my fingers are crossed, and I’m hoping she comes back to narrate ‘every year’ 😉
In 1952 we are traveling with a young couple on a road trip to see her parents, and the ‘her’ is very, very pregnant. She is having a hard go of things, puking every few miles, and it’s time to take a rest for the night. In Donn, Texas. ♪ donn donn DONNNNN ♪
Head to Eric Butler’s website to get the lay if the land, and find out what happens during the couple’s siesta – you can download a copy of the written book, or listen to the audio free on the page.
I am really excited to find out ALL the evils of Donn, TX!

Every month or so there will be another addition to the Donn, TX Universe. They will come out as eBooks and Audio Books. Around every 50,000 words produced, the stories will be collected into a paperback edition. This way there are a number of ways for you to enjoy and consume The Donn, TX Collection.

Freckles the Clown by Justin Fulkerson

Rating: 5 out of 5.

As the 20th anniversary of their friendship approaches, Freckles the Clown wants to celebrate with Jim. But, Jim doesn’t like Freckles at all. He never considered Freckles to be his friend. As a matter of fact, Jim is terrified of the cannibal clown that forces him year after year to partake in his debauchery.

Determined to put an end to his living nightmare, Jim sets out to murder Freckles before he can kill again. But, Freckles has other plans for him. He’s just getting started.

Book Synopsis

There are times in your life that you need something and the universe provides it – whether you asked for it or not.

Freckles became a part of Jim’s life when he was just nine years old, and Jim fought it every step of the way. Freckles The Clown says he just wants to make things easier; he wants everyone to be

But Jim isn’t happy. Not by a longshot. How can he be when he looks back at every significant, life altering moment in his life, and he sees a psychotic, cannibalistic clown there?! A clown that mirrors his deepest, darkest inner demons. On their 20th anniversary things are going to change – Jim has been planning it for a long time. Freckles knows, too. And he’s ready.

Is that why you act like a child? Because you eat children?

– Jim

Then there is the sad, and tragic story of Franklin Gough. And, one more – about Suzi. Don’t get confused, there’s a lot going on, but the author has it wrapped together very well. Well, there might be a head-scratcher, but it’s all good. No spoiler moments, just know that you won’t be disappointed!

It’s darkly humorous, tragically sad, and scary enough to make you double check your locks. You’ll have this blurry image in your mind throughout – of a clown, looking into a mirror. Don’t you want to know who’s looking back?

Pick up FRECKLES THE CLOWN on Amazon, then head over to Goodreads to share your thoughts. Connect with Justin Fulkerson on his website, @justinfulkerson on Twitter, Goodreads, and his Amazon Author Page.

Boys Will Be Boys by Rayne Havok

Rating: 5 out of 5.
Ms. Havok ‘Girls Will Be Girls’ is begging for you to bring it to life! See note to author.

WARNING: Boys Will Be Boys is Extreme Horror, and NOT for the squeamish, the easily offended, or those with large sticks up their butts. It gets graphic, and may trigger things long buried. Here’s your second WARNING.

‘Bri goes hiking with her friends, determined to make fun memories before her and her friends are off to college.’

‘Everett and his friends are making their own memories; ones the girls aren’t going to want to be a part of. The boys forcefully include them anyway.’

Amazon Synopsis

I have to say that this was a hard book to read. I had a moment of wanting to beat my Kindle against the closest, and hardest thing possible – while swear-screaming, and ugly-crying. A couple hours of reading exhausted me.

I do love Rayne’s writing style. The only way I know to describe it is he said / she said. Every other chapter. You get to read the POV from both sides – in this book it’s boy/girl, rapist/victim, murderer/dead girl. She writes it all, every dirty joke/every scratch left. All in excruciating detail…

“We’re doing this. Here is the place and now, is the time.”

Everett

Rayne doesn’t fuck around with foreplay, that’s for sure. This time she kinda slammed it in and broke it off. After about the first 10% of the book, there are three pages of happiness. How do things get fucked-up so fast?! I’m talking IRL, too, because this story is just that. It could. It might. Maybe it has. In just a matter of moments you can go from the top of the world to the deepest pits of Hell. Un-livable. Un-repairable. Rayne writes so well, and so passionately. I had to fight off a panic attack when shit got REAL real. I was there, on that mountain, and it was tragic.

But, if you DO survive, then what? What’s next? If it’s anything near what happens in this book – listen close, and hear me loud and clear – no-fucking-thank-you. This ending… Omg, no spoilers.

Note to author: I’m yelling out titles of revenge horror movies, and begging for a do over so my guts feel better. GIRLS WILL BE GIRLS needs to be your literary I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE. Not necessarily a sequel, but, I’d love to see these boys try it again inside of a new cover… Especially after reading that last line!

If you haven’t read this one yet, mind the trigger warnings, but hurry and go get it!! I need to discuss!! While I wait for you, I have Killstreme downloaded, and can’t wait to start reading.

Buy BOYS WILL BE BOYS on Amazon, then leave your 5 star review on Goodreads,

Stronger Than Hate by Robert Essig

Francine watches, and she listens to them from below. TRAPPED. She is hurt, and imprisoned at the bottom of a sinkhole that opened up in her precious garden while they torment her.

Familiar faces look down upon her—the worst students she ever had the displeasure of teaching before she retired from the local high school. They snicker as money changes hands. They spit on her. Throw things at her.

And there’s no way in hell they’re going to get help.

But someone else knows about Francine’s predicament. Her neighbor Greg, another former student. The one whose peers called him Lazy Eye. The one who always looked to be accepted even at the expense of Francine’s safety. Does he have it in his heart to do the right thing, to come to his senses and call the police?

At the mercy of deviants, Francine Mosely must harness her inner strength to survive their torments, but how much can she take? Through guidance from the memory of her late husband she banishes herself from what is happening, retreating to her most precious memories, but what happens when the horrors around her infiltrate her mind? How much can she take before breaking down? Is Francine Mosely STRONGER THAN HATE?

Angel on my right shoulder… “Ahh, revenge, but at what cost?” Devil on my left shoulder leans over and whispers in my ear… “Forty bucks, and ¼ bag of weed. Me… “I’M THINKING!”

SG in STRONGER THAN HATE, by Robert Essig

It’s been a while since I’ve read human depravity at this level!
The story worked – the bully and the bullied, the mentality that allowed this to go on for so long, the drugs, (it had to have the drugs), and how so many kept a secret – it’s all there, working together, and believable. Till the very ending bit
and that’s the reason I only gave 4 stars instead of 5. Because of ‘The Dark Ones‘.

WARNING

*Not really – but possible spoilers ahead*
It’s only my personal opinion, others may completely disagree. ‘The Dark Ones’ took the story somewhere that I didn’t think was needed. As a coping mechanism – yes. But, the bit at the end was something I think the story could have done without.

How to connect with the author: Find him on his blog Robert Essig’s Confusions, Delusions, and Formidable Impressions, Facebook, follow @Robert_Essig on Twitter, Amazon, and Goodreads.

THE GROOMER by Jon Athan

Andrew McCarthy grows concerned for his family after he catches a young man, Zachary Denton, photographing his daughter, Grace McCarthy, and other children at a park. To his dismay, Zachary talks his way out of trouble when he’s confronted by the police. He hopes that’s the end of it. Then he finds Zachary at a diner and then at a grocery store. He knows their encounters aren’t coincidences. And just as Andrew prepares to defend his family, Grace vanishes.

As the police search stalls and the leads dry up, Andrew decides to take matters into his own hands. He starts by searching for sex offenders in the area and researching enhanced interrogation techniques… He convinces himself he’ll do anything to rescue his daughter, unaware of the pure evil he’ll face in his journey. He’s willing to hurt—to torture—anyone to save his family.

Jon Athan, the author of Into the Wolves’ Den and The Abuse of Ashley Collins, delves into the underworld of internet predators in this disturbing horror novel. Are your children safe?

WARNING: This book contains graphic content. Reader discretion is advised.

My review was posted in March, but it’s that batch of missing reviews that must’ve fell onto The Twilight Zone, because I sure as hell can’t figure out where they all went!

Hurtcore

Jon Athan writes with intent.
Extreme horror that makes you open your eyes to the real monsters, and the real issues. Stories like this one, and INTO THE WOLVES DEN, are full of things that have happened IRL, based on ppl that actually exist in this world – perhaps closer than you think.
I just wish the vigilante justice happened more than we knew about, too.
As always – I can’t wait to read what’s next! The ‘New Release’ section of Amazon is killing me with available pre-orders!

On a personal note:
‘Jon’… Congratulations 🎉 I’m so happy to hear that your getting married! I hated thinking about you and your (now) fiance being separated by so many miles. I am sorry that we’re (the U. S.) losing you. Now you’ll be an expat, and I really hoped to meet you at a signing one day.
I also want to mention how weird it was to be reading about the very beginning of the COVID19 news, when my state is ordered to “shelter-in-place” at midnight tonight – enforced by the National Guard 😱 Crazy days.

Tonia Brown – a Triple Shot of Quirky!

Isn’t it weird how life happens sometimes? I was just thinking about Tonia, and how everyone and everything was back when all this was new. Zombie Fiend’s Joy Killer introduced us, Tonia gifted me a copy of LUCKY STIFF… everything else – kismet!

Tonia Brown – Author

I was thinking about her Author Interview, and how I need to get cracking on Coffee Talk again, and BAM – I’m punched in the face with some free audio book codes for Tonia. See?! IK,R?! Fucking kismet!!

Tonia was cool enough to come hang out in my pillow fort for a little while, long enough to enjoy a cup of coffee, and answer a few questions… the first one being “How do you like your coffee?” To which she replied, “I like my coffee like I like my men. Ground up and in the freezer.” Buckle up boys & girls…things are about to get weird!

Exerpt from Coffee With Tonia Brown

The only things I know for sure about upcoming author interviews are 1. The style isn’t going to change. It will be tweaked, but I’m sticking to my goal, staying myself – F bombs and all, and YES, A LIGHTNING ROUND DOES TOO WORK FOR WRITTEN INTERVIEWS!! And, yes, people DO care about what kind of underwear their favorite author wears – THAT’S WHY THEY’RE GOING TO COME HERE! And #2. For the next interview I’m hoping for a round table / panel discussion co-authored with one of my fave extreme horror chickys, so… Stay tuned!!

About that audio book code… here’s the review for what I scooped up :

Triple Shot of StrangeTriple Shot of Strange by Tonia Brown
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Since my original review was from March 13, 2012, and there isn’t an Audible edition listed here… it’s time to update!

I’ll meet you at the bar!
I can’t believe I had forgotten about Tonia Brown a little bit. I hate to pigeon hole anyone as anything, but I’m guilty of thinking ‘only zombies’, and I fell out of love with the genre a while back. It was a messy break-up but, I’m fine, really. Thanks.
I picked up Triple Shot of Strange (how I giggle every time I read the title! Innuendo is awesome), on audio and was so excited… I own the entire T3 collection and couldn’t wait to revisit Tonia’s World.
I would recommend this particular T3 to everyone. You get to get a nibble of her writing, and her style, and you’re guaranteed to fall in love 🖤 The three stories are fun, quick reads – listens in this case, and you’re left with a shudder and a smile. Tonia is active on social media, get to know her for a Triple Shot of Quirky, and I’ll meet you at the bar for the next round!

“Cawfee Tawk is an informal interview forum.”

Don’t forget to visit Coffee Talk and let me know what you think! Right this very second I’m just hoping that anyone remembers Mike Meyers as Linda Richman on SNL. I’m not old. You’re old. Shut up.

So, this has been my brain dump for now. Throwing out some ideas, see what you think about them, also to listen to what you want/need to see here. Yes, I was playing with my new editing program, but I gotta use it to learn it. I apologise if it gave you a headache 😬. I wanted to remind everyone that even with the new domain name, everything is the same – the old addresses still work, and will continue to. How do you prefer to review books – with a 5 star rating, or a 10 star rating? I thought 5 for books, 10 for movies, and make the rest up as I go along 😜 And if you don’t want to leave feedback in the comments (but I really wish you would!), you can shoot me an email at ShadowGirl@BeckisBookBlog.com PRETTY PLEASE START USING THE 5 STAR RATING THINGY ON EACH POST.. how else am I going to learn? Thanks!

Tantalize By Rayne Havok

WARNING: SOME SCENES MAY BE CONSIDERED OFFENSIVE.

“It’s her fault, really, flaunting herself. She invades my mind, taking over until I must do something to regain it, to be free of her.”

“Things have escalated, but I have it all under control.”

Rayne Havok

Wow! Gavin’s descent into madness didn’t take any side roads! I was along for the ride, and could’ve used a rest stop – being in such close proximity gives you an almost sixth sense on what others are feeling. And Gavin’s frustration is making my skin crawl! He is literally acting like Hannah is an addiction, because his ‘Hannah withdrawls’ are painful to read. The writing is so we’ll done that you are right inside those covers with your fictional friends. I’d want to put it down for a minute, but Rayne just laughs and says… “Buckle up, Bitch and enjoy your ride! No breaks for you!” Hahahaha Seriously, once you’re at a certain point it’s better to continue, especially if the story is this good.

I love this ‘He Said’ / ‘She Said’ style of story telling, and when Hannah did speak, we got to meet her inner-bad-ass! She’s a smart cookie and realized that there was going to be no white knight to rescue her. She plans to take her pound of flesh, and then haul ass before anything else happens to her, she knows her sanity is a fragile thing. This part of the book was deeply satisfying to read, especially after reading every word of what he did to her! You can cringe and smile at the same time! You look like you have to pee, but it’s done. It’s like laughing while puking.

Now comes the hard part… deciding which of Rayne Havok’s books to read next! I think it has to be Boys Will Be Boys this time. It’s calling my name!

My next read from Rayne Havok

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Rayne has the attention span of a goldfish so she tends to write shorter stories.

Full of gory and gross thoughts that need to be put to paper, she writes all the time to clear space for the new stuff. She is a huge fan of horror and loves to be shocked by all things ‘extreme’. She focuses on the human condition, what causes people to do the things they do and the possibility that not all of it is wrong.

She’s all about the bloody and gruesome, but also loves to sprinkle it with gratuitous sex.
She is a little psychotic and a little sweet, lives in Phoenix Arizona- but doesn’t get out much for fear of melting to death in the desert heat.

“I always know the ending, then I write the story for it.”

“Writing horror is burning a room full of people. Writing extreme/gore horror is following them inside to listen to their skin crackle.”

Her latest masterpiece, Killstream, will be published September 16th – mark your calendars!

KILLSTREAM:

Wesley gets an invitation from Killstreme, a snuff production company, to star in his very own snuff film. It’s an opportunity he can’t refuse.

Available on Amazon, (and KU) September 16, 2020.

HORNWOLF by Evan Romero

46194311._SY475_

Ashwood. A quiet Midwest town where nothing much happens. That all changes when the mutilated bodies of a young couple are discovered in the woods. Chief of Police Cynthia Carver initially dismisses it as an animal attack. However, the discovery of sexual assault against one of the corpses leaves her baffled. As more bodies pile up, Cynthia will discover the assailant isn’t an ordinary animal. And unless she can stop it, she may be his next victim…

When his balls are blue and the penis rises, the wolf comes out!

I don’t think that I’ve read anything by Evan Romero before, but I’m looking for more now.

This is a surprisingly fun read – in a ‘Serbian-Book‘ kind of way!

I’m dying to know what happened to BloodBoundBooksRedLine Series! After a rock solid beginning with Toxic Love by Kristopher Triana, followed up by #Horrible by KJ Moore, the series died off…no note, no cab fare. Just gone. Only a wet spot left behind.

Hornwolf is no longer available on Amazon, or on BloodBoundBooks‘ website. So, it looks like my main point of this post is to say ‘Suck it, losers!’

I’m just kidding!!  And, I’m sure you’ll be able to find a copy (unless something really weird happened) if you contact BloodBoundBooks, or the author. In the meantime, I’ll try to find answers re: RedLine, and I’ll keep you updated!
