THE GROOMER by Jon Athan

Andrew McCarthy grows concerned for his family after he catches a young man, Zachary Denton, photographing his daughter, Grace McCarthy, and other children at a park. To his dismay, Zachary talks his way out of trouble when he’s confronted by the police. He hopes that’s the end of it. Then he finds Zachary at a diner and then at a grocery store. He knows their encounters aren’t coincidences. And just as Andrew prepares to defend his family, Grace vanishes.

As the police search stalls and the leads dry up, Andrew decides to take matters into his own hands. He starts by searching for sex offenders in the area and researching enhanced interrogation techniques… He convinces himself he’ll do anything to rescue his daughter, unaware of the pure evil he’ll face in his journey. He’s willing to hurt—to torture—anyone to save his family.

Jon Athan, the author of Into the Wolves’ Den and The Abuse of Ashley Collins, delves into the underworld of internet predators in this disturbing horror novel. Are your children safe?

WARNING: This book contains graphic content. Reader discretion is advised.

My review was posted in March, but it’s that batch of missing reviews that must’ve fell onto The Twilight Zone, because I sure as hell can’t figure out where they all went!

Hurtcore

Jon Athan writes with intent.
Extreme horror that makes you open your eyes to the real monsters, and the real issues. Stories like this one, and INTO THE WOLVES DEN, are full of things that have happened IRL, based on ppl that actually exist in this world – perhaps closer than you think.
I just wish the vigilante justice happened more than we knew about, too.
As always – I can’t wait to read what’s next! The ‘New Release’ section of Amazon is killing me with available pre-orders!

On a personal note:
‘Jon’… Congratulations 🎉 I’m so happy to hear that your getting married! I hated thinking about you and your (now) fiance being separated by so many miles. I am sorry that we’re (the U. S.) losing you. Now you’ll be an expat, and I really hoped to meet you at a signing one day.
I also want to mention how weird it was to be reading about the very beginning of the COVID19 news, when my state is ordered to “shelter-in-place” at midnight tonight – enforced by the National Guard 😱 Crazy days.

SNUFF: A F*cked Up Short by Matt Shaw

 ⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆

WARNINGS:

“This is A SHORT STORY. It is intended for the members of Kindle Unlimited who have been requesting short, sick, bedtime stories. As part of Kindle Unlimited they are able to download this title for free. If you wish for a longer story to read, please do not purchase any of the ‘F*cked-Up Shorts’. ”

SNUFF is loosely based on Dan Brownlie‘s idea for a faux snuff film (‘2 Girls, 1 Victim’ – screenplay also written by Matt Shaw).

Expect twists galore and sheer brutality!

Nikki and Jamie have taken SNUFF mainstream* – serving up punishment when the court system fails, and vigilante justice has never been sexier!

*Well, as mainstream as you can be online without getting caught. There are actually only a select few who know of the show, each member personally invited.

Tonight’s episode of ‘Two Girls, One Victim’ has a very special guest – a rapist named Jack Goodall. Specific tools chosen just for the guest of honor are laid out,  and gleaming under the set’s lights. Pliers, a hammer, nails, screws, hacksaws, piano wire, rope, duct tape, an adult sex-toy, and what appeared to be a small bottle of lube. Things might get messy, and the members are definitely going to get their money’s worth from this show!

You can find Snuff: An Extreme Horror SHORT STORY
on Amazon, and Goodreads.

LAB RAT: A NOVEL OF EXTREME HORROR, SEX, AND GORE by Matt Shaw

Before the cures, there are the experiments.

His heart was in the right place.
His mind, though, was in a much darker place.

If horror movies have taught us anything, it’s that the big, beautiful house that you’re looking at – the one that is priced WAY too low to be able to believe – is being sold for a reason!  Just look what happened in Amityville!

When the HOUSE says "Get out" - you GTFO!!
When the HOUSE says “Get out” – you GTFO!!

Becky & Kevin have obviously never watched a horror movie, and are moving in to their nice, new, creepy AF home – with the added bonus of getting to keep the previous tenant’s belongings! YAY! Those hospital beds in the attic will sure come in handy!

The couple doesn’t have to worry about the walls bleeding, or flies taking over the bedroom. Their house isn’t haunted. This isn’t the Amityville Horror! Becky & Kevin’s horror story is only beginning, and their fate is much, much worse.

The doctor is IN!

Fun excerpt from LAB RAT:

“You like to read?” the realtor asked – hoping to find a common interest to make her more of an option to purchase from.

“I do,” Becky’s answer was short and sweet.

“Who’s your favorite? I’m a sucker for Stephen King. The way he builds his characters up, adding layer, upon layer… He is a true master of his craft.”

“He is,” Becky answered. Again, keeping it short and sweet.

“My wife prefers… Oh… What are their names… Matt Not Shaw and Iain Rob Wrong.”

“Excuse my husband, he’s being an idiot.”

LAB RAT by Matt Shaw is available on Amazon for $2.99, FREE for KU subscribers!

HAPPY EVER AFTER By Matt Shaw

HAPPY EVER AFTER
Book One of the Peter Chronicles
By Matt Shaw
cover-1
*A quick note. This is my first review of HEA, written ages ago.
I have plans on re-writing this, and writing an additional review for the whole series.

You are put into the minds of both the main characters in this story, Peter and Vanessa. Told from both characters P.O.V.
All Peter wants is to love and be loved in return – is that so bad? Even if the woman he loves changes frequently? If she feels that she cannot love him back – It’s not like he forces her to stay. She has a choice. He asks – ‘If it’s just you and me, together, for the rest of our lives – no-one else to mess things up… could you ever love me?’
“[He falls in love with] Vanessa. He loves her a lot and is looking forward to starting a nice life with her, and only her. No one else to get in the way and mess up their beautiful relationship. He’ll do anything for her. Absolutely anything to make her happy. Anything to see that beautiful smile of hers. Anything to live happily ever after with her.”
The problem? Vanessa has no idea who Peter is. She just wants to go home, to see her parents, to be un-handcuffed from that damn bed.

Is it just me, or will everyone feel sorry for Peter, even just a little bit… I felt a little sorry for Jeffry Dahmer and Denis Neilson. Even Vanessa has a hard time not feeling kinda bad for Peter – when he isn’t breaking her bones or drugging her.

This is so messed up, but, Ohmigod, I was cracking up at some of the stuff in this book, and my husband wants to admit me to the asylum, he thinks I am psychotic. Matt told me a reviewer gave him some shit for using dark humor in the midst of all this depravity… but I think it is great. I’m sure someone will give me shit for saying I love it, or give him some fresh shit for warping minds like mine – cuz we all know just how sweet & innocent I was before I was introduced to Matt Shaw’s work!
Be warned. Finding something so perfectly sick & twizted was a long journey. I found exactly what I was looking for in the HEA series. Everything plus some. Even I felt the need to take my eyes out & scrub them after reading this, and laughing as much as I did makes me feel a little dirty.

””’ 5 stars and a ‘like’ are just not enough. I am now a lifelong fan – eagerly awaiting more
