G.N. Braun is an Australian writer, and current president of the Australian H.W.A.
He writes fiction across various genres, but I found his short stories while searching for horror – big surprise, right? I found his work on Legumeman Books, and have recently (with help from our favorite author stalker – Suzanne) become friends with him on Facebook and Goodreads. You can download his short stories ‘Boneyard Smack’, ‘Bubba wants YOU’, ‘Insurrection’, free from Legumeman Books.
Obviously, I love his work – or you wouldn’t be reading this. I especially liked his dark & gritty short story, ‘Boneyard Smack’. I realized last night that my review/discussion was originally posted on my first book blog at ZF. (We all know that I didn’t back-up my reviews then, and I lost everything when the site closed.) I will be redoing that post soon, so be sure to watch for it!
Being such a fan of ‘Boneyard Smack’ is, I believe, what led me to want to read his memoir so bad. Ok, well… that and my own past struggle with opiates. Hammered: Memoir of an Addict was released in early 2012 by Legumeman Books.
(Taken from Geoff’s blog – ) Hammered is a memoir of G.N. Braun’s twenty-five+ years of drug abuse and addiction, and the way he finally clawed his way back to sobriety. It follows the descent into casual use of marijuana, through the years of speed use, and finally into the twelve years of opiate addiction.
Kristen always wanted to be part of the “in crowd.” Her social worries intensified after transferring from a small, public school to private, upscale Smithshire Academy in the middle of her high school career. She wanted so badly to be part of the social network in her new school, she didn’t think twice when one of the existing members of the popular girl’s group, The K-Club, invited her over one night for a sleepover. Where all the girls whose names started with the letter “K” are going to be. Kristen’s self-doubt allows her to be pulled into the group on one condition…
She must first go through the initiation process that the other girls have set forth before her.
What ensues is a group of popular high school girls practicing in the occult, Kristen going over to a stranger’s house to “scare” them and sacrifices to secure Kristen’s spot in high school legend.
Will all Kristen’s work be enough to appease the girls of The Killing Club and the great God of high school popularity to let her into the group?
The extent of blood that Kristen wishes to get on her hands will hold the answer.

The zombie-related medical thriller is a fast paced ride down the terrifying corridors of clinical research gone wrong.
What will the survivors do when every one over the age of twenty suddenly dies in a viral outbreak? Worse yet, what will they do when the dead refuse stay that way?
A group of students are left trapped in their school as the adults they once relied upon suffer strange symptoms and die, only to return and feed. With no guidance or supervision the students are left to recreate society as they see fit. But not everyone shares their vision of the future…Zombie Youth:Playground Politics is the first novel in a new series following a group of survivors struggling to stay alive in a world where there are things far worse than zombies.
Jacob O’Connor has some problems.
His time spent attached to Britain’s S.A.S. still gives him nightmares, his social life is in the toilet, and his best friend is an unrepentant adrenaline junkie.
Unfortunately, just as things finally seem to go his way, decomposing corpses of the recently dead begin rising to gnaw on the living. Now the streets are filled with mindless creatures hungering for only one thing: human flesh. Jake’s unlikely group of survivors needs to make for some kind of refuge, and not get zombified along the way. One question looms large on all their minds however: how to do that without being turned into drooling maggot-heads themselves? Psychopaths, escaped criminals, and para-military, white-supremacists all stand in their way; not to mention an ever-growing threat from the slowly rotting hordes. If Jake doesn’t want to end up as one of the mobile dead, he’ll need to keep his whits about him.
And his crowbar handy…
Well, here it is. The “Keep Your Crowbar Handy…” book trailer!
