PIGS Wade H. Garrett

Published October 9, 2018 by Shadow Girl

This is an extremely sadistic story that should only be read by the seasoned extreme-horror reader.’

5/5 Piggies

Synopsis:  Jake lost his wife and unborn daughter on a West Texas highway when three police officers abused their authority. The pigs thought they had got off scot-free until Jake took justice into his own hands.

First thing first – I’ve waited way too long to pick up Wade’s work. Truth? I’m the farthest thing from a book snob – we know this, but…  I think that (maybe) I did judge the books by their covers at first ::cringe:: I know! It’s inexcusable! I realized I’d misjudged Wade when I read his short in Matt Shaw’s The Devil’s Guests.  So, I picked up Insane Bastards right when it came out, (the synopsis sucked me right in!), and knew I had been missing out. (Dark & twisted humor gets me every time!) I went ahead and grabbed the complete “A Glimpse into Hell” series instead of picking them up one by one, and I’m glad I did because I couldn’t stop!

PIGS is an extremely satisfying story!

If you’re ever been in a situation involving the cops, you know it’s hard to remain calm, and if you’re being bullied by that superiority complex in a blue suit – your blood just boils in your helpless body. You might think you know what Jake was going through when he was pulled over while rushing his pregnant wife to the ER, but you have no idea! That shit is infuriating! I was getting pissed when I was reading, and The Dark Defender told me to be quiet – twice.
Wade’s writing goes next level sick & twisted, but… all of his torture is very original, and there are damn good stories under all the carnage! Every time I had to stop reading because life came calling I was so frustrated! Learn from my mistake, and don’t hesitate to grab anything of his. They’re all available with KU, too.

MY LOVELY WIFE by Dani Brown

Published August 17, 2014 by Shadow Girl

MY LOVELY WIFE
by Dani Brown
Print Length: 72 pages
Publisher: MorbidbookS. Everything Bleeds.

A story told by the most patient man in the world, his love at first sight and his obsession to make every perverse sexual fantasy a reality.
Despite the length of this book, it took me a little bit to finish it. I’d get squeamish, and have to put it down – only finding myself wondering what happened next.
Is it sexist to say that I was surprised that it was written by a woman? I hope not, because that’s the last thing that I am. I think that I’m just surprised that Dani Brown has such a strong command of this man’s psyche, and, well… his cock. Some of the detail, and descriptions, are just so spot on – IDK… I’ve seen men write from the women’s perspective, and not many have gotten it down to the point that I’d forget it was a man writing the story.
I didn’t realize this book was just released. I don’t remember how I ran across it, either. Surfing through bizarro blogs, I’m sure, but I wish I could remember exactly. While putting this post together, and gathering links, I found a great #FF – MorbidBooks & The Grim Reverend Steven Rage seem to be linked with LegumeManBooks (GN Braun, Matthew Revert, Bradley Sands, etc.), and that’s bonus points in my book! MorbidBooks has a WP site, (all the cool kids do!) – where everything bleeds, and I’ll most definitely be checking out more of their books, and writers.
I might need a break in between. Maybe go take a few showers, and a few Xanax. Watch some cartoons. Try to start eating again….

AMAZON SYNOPSIS:
Publication Date: July 24, 2014
He had to have her the moment he saw her trachea ring. Six months later she was his lovely wife. He performed his duties as a husband and she as a wife. He tolerated a house filled with references to her late first husband and the children they had together. He put up with her prudish ways. He waited. He was patient. He planned. He was adaptable. He was rewarded over the course of a week in her basement. He turned his perverse sexual fantasies of worms and maggots and her lovely crusty trachea ring into a gruesome reality.

The Bighead by Ed Lee

Published May 18, 2014 by Shadow Girl

Never have I been so ashamed of myself for laughing so hard at something so utterly depraved!

The Bighead (Author's Preferred Version)The Bighead by Edward Lee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“She stove the baby’s head in with a cast-iron skillet. The head burst like a pale, ripe fruit.” So begins splatterpunk author Lee’s infamous 1997 novel, the reading of which has become a rite of passage for gore-hounds everywhere. Many call it the grossest book ever written—and, for once, the hype ain’t hyperbole. Two new friends, big-city nyphomaniac Jerrica and small-town nymphomaniac-in-training Charity, travel to the latter’s Appalachian hometown, where they meet a foul-mouthed priest who has been tasked with restoring a mysterious abbey. Elsewhere in town, two slobbering, insane, and horny backwoods moonshiners tirelessly rape and murder random people in ways that are, shall we say, creative. Also entering into the fun is the hydrocephalatic cannibal known as the Bighead, “a deformed, woods-rompin’, brain-eatin’, pussy-bustin’ retart!” How to review something so revolting? There must be 50 over-the-top sex scenes, half of them assaults, and many of them involving orifices not typically awarded the spotlight. (Spoiler: one involves a colostomy bag.) The problem for those looking to chuck this book into the wood-chipper is that Lee can actually write, and in those rare moments when he’s not giving into his deviant obsessions, his expansive vocabulary and ear for hill-country slang make for some swell readin’: “Gawd damn, but weren’t it good ta et a raw brain busted fresh out the skull!” Got a strong stomach? Fine, then, but we’d still recommend having a barf bag at the ready. –Daniel Kraus —

I am following the Facebook page for the movie they’re trying to make. (Edward Lee’s The Bighead – The Movie)
The more I read, the more convinced I became – convinced that the film cannot be done! At least, not in regards to the book!
This graphic sex, rape, bodily fluid, and scat filled book was enough to literally make me nauseous – almost losing the battle once or twice!
If you haven’t read the book, then the movie might turn out to be one of the best horror / torture porn movies since the original HOSTEL. But, movie goers who did did read the book first – they’ll be expecting #MurderPorn, and nothing short of Bighead’s descriptive culinary experiences will abide. It’s going to be a rough road for director Michael Lee. As for the fans – it’s hard to say…
*(EDITED IN NOTE: News from a fan, and from the director – “…we have managed to get the short film made and are still in talks to get a feature version going (sometime soon, we hope).”.

I’ve read a lot of stories from Ed Lee, (I’m on an extreme horror / splatterpunk binge), and I am always looking forward to starting something by him that ALL my friends have read -but I wasn’t prepared to dwell into the places that The Bighead considered home!
I did enjoy reading this, in spite of Lee’s over-the-top-ness! I had moments where my laughter would accidentally turn into, or cause, a gag – but I’d still be cracking up!
I think the 5th star would have made it, if the poo hadn’t been there!

Shut The Fuck Up And Die! by William Todd Rose

Created in SPLATTER-VISION
What a great cover!!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Outstanding Read!!
It’s a book that lives up to its warnings, and that was a blessing! I can’t tell you how many times I was falsely lured into reading a story that was nothing like the warnings, synopsis, or even the cover!
At one point, I was convinced that I was the sick & twisted one for wanting to read something…more. Now I now that I was just looking in the wrong places.
I’m not comparing WTR’s work to anyone, I’m only saying that this book now shares a shelf with Lee, Laymon, and Shaw, (to name a few).
I hate to use a term that has been so over-used, but it is fitting here – so when I call this family backwoods, know that terms like “culturally backward” or “unsophisticated” just don’t describe the kind of fu©ed up that they are! When a newlywed couple with car trouble crosses paths with the brothers, things really get fun!
You can expect blood & graphic details, but you won’t expect the twists & turns!

Splatterpunk vs Horror

Published May 2, 2013 by Shadow Girl

Just a sticky note post,  a little fun fact  just learned from reading a post from John McNee. The following is taken from a post on Goodreads.

” Erin wrote: “What’s the difference between splatterpunk and horror? I would never use the term splatterpunk if I were describing a gory book, I would just say it was gory”
John McNee answered…

“‘Splatterpunk’ is (or was) a subgenre of horror, but I think most people just use the term ‘extreme horror’ now.

Usually it means you can expect a LOT of gore and “extreme” subject matter crossing the line of good taste. At least, more than you would tend to find in mainstream horror like Stephen King or Dean Koontz.

I’m honestly not sure how helpful the label is. People who are looking for a more intense horror experience will gravitate towards so-called ‘splatterpunk’ writers, but a lot of otherwise open-minded horror fans refuse to read any ‘splatterpunk’ at all because of what they imagine books with that label will be like.”

I like that.
