Who doesn’t love a list?

IDK if I’m overly organized, if it’s my ADD, or maybe I’m just a huge nerd, but I love lists. I have stacks of lists to do, to buy, to read, to research… Sometimes, if I am feeling particularly unproductive, I’ll make a reverse list, I write down something I’ve done, so I can cross it off. It’s cathartic.

I looked at a lot of influencers lists when I was planning my October ‘content’, but they don’t translate into what I blog about very easily. I think I found ways to make their lists work for me, I’m nothing if not inventive! So besides Top 5 or 10 lists, you’re going to get to see things like POST A TUTORIAL, PLAN AN INDUSTRY GATHERING, and if I can find something you want, I may even HOST A GIVEAWAY. All of their lists will be tried my way, so at the very least – it’ll be interesting! Maybe a couple of you will share my weird sense of… something, and like what I’m trying! As always, leave me comments so I know if I should do more, or ‘never ever try that again!’

Lists are harder that I thought they’d be! So I am going to start with what I thought would be the easiest idea…

Turns out – not as easy as it sounded.
List order goes – Rainbow Colors thru Not Rainbow Colors

1: RED by D.J. Doyle

2. A CLOCKWORK ORANGE by Anthony Burgess

3. YELLOW by Aron Beauregard

4. THE GREEN FOG by Sam West

5. THE BLUE WAR by Jeffry Thomas

6. VIOLET by Scott Thomas

7. BILLY SILVER by Daniel Volpe

8. WHITE WALLS & STRAIGHT JACKETS by D.O. Hughes

9. THE BLACK LAKE by Jon Athan

10. PINK PLANET by Jon R. Meyers

Do you have any better choices for this one, or do you trust me to continue making lists on my own? (With no adult supervision, you’re sure?) What kind of Top Ten do you think needs an [extreme] horror makeover? I have a couple started, but would love your input!

I’m still quarantined/isolated, but that just means no people, so it’s awesome. No sign of ‘Rona or Delta, so…bonus! My Mountain Dew is cold, and I’m about to eat some pizza 🍕 it’s a good day. Until next time, my little Tricks and Treats… Stay safe out there!

The Lockdown Trade-Off by Sam West

Times are hard in this terrifying new world dominated by the coronavirus –

Tap Cover To Go To Amazon.com

You gotta do what it takes to survive.

WARNING: EXTREME HORROR – Not For Sensitive Readers! This story happens in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic – so if you’re triggered by daily events, here’s an extra warning.

The Author & The Reviewer

Small businesses around the globe are going belly-up. In the Cornish seaside town of Treeve, Cat’s husband, Brian Oxley, is on the brink of losing everything. Eight pubs, five restaurants, and six pasty shops worth of everything…

When a potential, financial bailout comes in the form of lottery winner Ewan Davies, it is the answer to all of Brian’s prayers. The creepy, ex-furniture restorer makes Brian an offer he can’t refuse.

His offer is twenty million.

And the price of Brian’s salvation?

His wife.

Never in her wildest imaginings, could Cat imagine what lies in store for her at the millionaire’s mansion.

She will never look at a piece of furniture in the same way again…

THE LOCKDOWN TRADE-OFF IS INDECENT PROPOSAL – WITH 2 SOCIOS, AND A PSYCHO.

The synopsis is very descriptive, so you know the beginning of the story. What you don’t know is ‘Why’. Not ‘why did Brian sell her’, cuz he’s a piece of shit, (besides, times are hard, ya know?). Not ‘why didn’t her side-piece try to help her‘, cuz he was a pussy all along. The WHY you need to be asking is WHY does Ewan want to buy her? INDECENT PROPOSAL was ‘One million dollars for one night with your wife’ – but Ewan is paying twenty mil!

Ewan must live in Broadgate. This kind of shit couldn’t happen anywhere else in the world!

I first read this within days of it’s release. At a certain point if I’d had Collette’s number I would have called, but I had to stop reading so I could at least e-mail her. I think I only said ”They’re going to Broadgate, aren’t they?!” UPDATE: I had to stop and look up the e-mail. I was wrong, I emailed her because for a second I was thinking they might be headed to Gary’s house in Broadgate! It would have been an entirely different story.

This is extreme body horror at it’s finest! You might not feel this, but I see some dark humor here, and can totally appreciate it! (See note in Ch.12.) I think I’m safe with my assumption here, but I’ve pissed off an author before by finding some dark humor in their world where there was most definitely none intended. ::leSigh::

I love that this is written along with what is going on in the world. It’s not ‘capitalizing’ on anything, it’s saying ‘Hey, things are fucked up, but look – they could be SOOOO much worse!” Lol! Some time had passed when I realized that this wasn’t posted, (again, all apologizes). I was going to skim through, just to refresh for this, but ended up reading from cover to cover for a second time! It’s such a great vakay from IRL for a little while, (but parallel to IRL 😉). I noticed that a couple readers do not like the ending of this story, but I wholeheartedly disagree. There are so many things that could happen, but no matter what – in our minds we’ve seen our perfect ending.

“I want you with me forever, Caitlyn.”

The most horrifying sentence in this book!

Alright. I’ve begun to babble, so that’s a sure sign that it’s time to wrap this up. When you need to stop seeing the news, and a distraction beckons because ‘those damn kids’ are just always there anymore, you can grab THE LOCKDOWN TRADE-OFF on Amazon, then rate it on Goodreads! Your stalking options for Sam West, and Collette Metcalf are as follows: AmazonGoodreadsFacebookBookLikes LibraryThing, and FictionDB, and @west_horror on Twitter. There is at least one Sam West #BleedingMeme in the Gallery, and the Sam West / Collette Metcalf ‘coming-out’ interview is a fun read and can be read here. Lastly…

IF YOU WERE GOING OUT ON HALLOWEEN AS A CHARACTER FROM ONE OF SAM WEST’S BOOKS, WHO WOULD YOU BE?

Answers in the comments please! You never know, this might end up not being just for fun, so comment, damnit!! lmfao… Until next time – Stay Healthy, and Stay Safe!

MARY BLAKE: A Nasty Novelette by Sam West

WARNING!  THIS IS A VIOLENT,
BLOOD THIRSTY, AND MORALLY REPREHENSIBLE PIECE OF FICTION!

★★★★★/★★★★★

Fifteen years ago, Casey Brown and her college friends did something very, very bad to an innocent girl.

What really happened to poor Mary Blake that night?

There are whispers in the woods that surround that old abandoned house. Urban legends are repeated, and sightings of their usual suspects are sworn on – by a friend of a friend of that guy’s second cousin who knew a dude who swears they saw ‘He/She/It’ one dark, and stormy night. Bloody Mary, the Slit-Mouth Woman, Click Clack, the Slender Man… they aren’t the only boogeymen in those woods…
People say that the house is haunted by it’s original owner… The things that Mr. Jones did to his wife and two daughters went way beyond ‘slaughter’ – the depravity of his actions makes the family’s eventual slaughter a blessing.

Now, Casey’s nightmares are invading her waking life.
Mary Blake is back, and she’s not alone.
Only the truth will set her free.

TWO MINDS: 50 Shades Of Fucked Up – An Extreme Horror Novel by Matt Shaw & Sam West

two-minds

My rating: 4 of 5 stars  ⋆⋆⋆⋆

These two authors are a match made in… well, Heaven for me!
I’ve been a fan of Matt’s for a very long time. When I stumbled across Sam’s work not very long after, the two people who introduced me to Matt said I’d enjoy Sam’s writing as well – (thank you Suzanne and Cathy!) – and they were right.
IMO, Sam West’s stories have been getting increasingly better this year, and this collaboration came at the perfect time for both of them.

“Two Minds” is told through the viewpoint of the two characters living the story.

The woman – convinced the man she is talking to is responsible for her sister’s disappearance – and the man… Who is he? Did he have anything to do with the sudden disappearance of Samantha’s sister or is he nothing more than an innocent bystander?

Only one thing is for sure… After this night, neither of them will be the same again.

I wish the ending were a little… ‘beefier’ (for lack of a better term, or perfect tongue in cheek?).  I just felt like I needed a bit more there, but that’s only one readers opinion.  I love how it was written. It’s a great style, and I bet we’ll see more authors experimenting with it. This story, (plus the little preview I had), has got me even more excited for The Devil’s Guests!! Have you been looking for something a bit more twisted than usual? The Devil’s Guests is gonna do things to you that no book has done before – trust!

A note to the authors… your introduction(s) made me laugh out loud at work. Thank you for helping convince my boss I’m a lunatic for sitting down to read “50 SHADES OF FUCKED UP” on my break, and giggling.

HOME INTRUDER by Sam West

Synopsis:

Jason Jacks is a sadistic serial killer, with a penchant for killing couples.

Jaz and Edward Sullivan are newlyweds on holiday in Cornwall, staying in Ed’s old family home.

Jason Jacks is just about the worst kind of house guest anyone could wish for. Because if he comes a-knockin’, then you’re as good as dead…

This is extreme horror, as is everything by Sam West.
It is for the most hardened horror fans only.
(And even then, please proceed with caution.)

SamWest cover

I got my Kindle Unlimited subscription renewed a couple days ago, and I accidentally found this author, Sam West, while looking for any titles from Matt Shaw that I might have missed in the past couple months. Amazon said… ‘Oh, you like this twisted stuff? Here, try THIS guy. He might make you puke!’
There are five novellas available, I grabbed this one first only because it’s the first one Amazon recommended.
The synopsis, and the words ‘Extreme Horror Novella’ grabbed my attention right away. The cringe-inducing scene on the first page drew me in even further. As far as torture goes, Sam West is pretty original. Probably a bit unstable, too. (You know I’m teasing!) I learned a new phrase – “The back of beyond”. I like it. It sounds a little more civilized than BFE 😉
I can’t wait to read the other four books!

***Includes the first chapter of ‘Djinn’ at the end of the novella.***

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
SamWest 1
Sam West is a horror writer living in the UK. His stuff is hardcore, so be warned. He believes that horror should be sick and sexy and he is more than happy to offend a few people on his writing journey.

He hopes there are other like minded souls out there that enjoy a good dose of depravity and perversion. Because that’s what rocks his world. That, and his wife and young daughter who do brilliantly to put up with his diseased mind.
