Sea’s Sanger Series

Sanger Entertainment The Complete Series by Sea Caummisar
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

WARNING – Once you start this book, you won’t be able to stop until the last book is finished.
If you picked up this series before reading anything else from this author, Sanger Entertainment was born in the blood of Games The Complete Series Books 1-6. I was really excited about the idea of Sanger getting its own series, but I didn’t have a clue what it was going to be like. The reality of the final project exceeded my wildest imagination!
It has everything I wanted – the casino, the collection crews, the underground fighting, and videos, etc. But so much more, too! (Note to author: I absolutely LOVE the pharmacy, nice touch!) And since this is Sea Caummisar we’re talking about, it has all the blood, gore, and always inventive deaths that keep us coming back for more.
Beyond all that though…The story that continues throughout these books is outstanding! Together these guys – THOMAS, BRUNO, KURT, and MAX are like brothers, with PAULIE being the honorary, adopted little brother – they’ve grown Sanger into something untouchable. But when the wife and kids kind of family comes in to play, it’s not always so easy to balance. If it comes down to it, which family is more important?
It depends on who you ask.

More reviews on Goodreads

I’ll go over the stories individually at a later time, but it’s so hard to do! Sea Caummisar packs so much story into so few pages that I’m always feeling like I’m balancing on that very thin line between review, or spoiler.

Have you read this series already? Do you have a favorite? I like Kurt & Thomas the most, cuz Max lost his damn fool mind! But, then again, we can’t forget about Paulie… He may not be one of the four founding members, but he’s been here through thick and thin, and knows more secrets than the president should be privy to. It’s really hard to pick a favorite, innt? Gotta boogie for now, but say hey in the comments, let me know you’re still lurking!

The Taste of Blood

by Jon Athan

WARNING: This novel contains graphic content. Reader discretion is advised.

After being sexually abused by her nineteen-year-old boyfriend at a party, Genesis Hudson—a thirteen-year-old girl—believes she has become a vampire. Her hunger for human blood intensifies with each passing day. She craves it, she feels sick without it. Aubrey Horne, Genesis’ best friend, knows she is mentally unwell, but she needs time to help her. So, with an abundance of reluctance, she agrees to help Genesis find blood by any means necessary. And while doing so, she discovers a side to Genesis she’s never seen before…

How far can two girls go to find blood? Can Aubrey save Genesis from herself before it’s too late? Or has Genesis really become a vampire?

Jon Athan, the provocative author behind Our Dead Girlfriend and Mason’s Television, brings you a new grotesque coming-of-age horror novel filled with acts of depravity and violence.

BFF’s – Best Friends Forever? Well, one of them sure thinks so! With a little too much emphasis on the Forever.
Too bad she’s 🦇💩 crazy.
But, it’s one Hell of a best friend to go as far as this one went.

This is a really touching story about friendship. Ok, “really touching” to those of us who live on Planet Splatter… everyone else might have to look a little deeper, past the blood and gore, around the bodies, and over by the fridge, hahaha. I feel kind of shitty because there isn’t a chance that I would have put up with half of the mess that Aubrey does, much less go to the extremes she goes to just to try help Genesis – knowing all along that she’s 🦇💩. There were two points that I was hoping that the author would just jump script and take the vampire angle to a place where we could believe the story – that’s how hard I was rooting for the girls.

Of course I recommend it – it’s Jon Athan! Don’t miss it.

Friendship, betrayal, makeovers, and… revenge!

Getting Revenge on Lauren Wood by Eileen Cook
★  5 of 5 stars

Getting Revenge on Lauren Wood

I don’t know if Eileen Cook will appreciate my #MichiganMadmen, or #HometownHorror tags, so I’ll start her off slowly with #HometownAuthors.
Revenge is a tricky thing
No, this is not one from my normally blood-soaked bookshelf, but I saw it, wanted it, read it – and I’m happy I did, it was fun!

I added a couple more of her titles to my TBR – check her out 🙂

ODD MAN OUT by James Newman

WELCOME TO THE BLACK MOUNTAIN CAMP FOR BOYS!

Summer, 1989. It is a time for splashing in the lake and exploring the wilderness, for nine teenagers to bond together and create friendships that could last the rest of their lives.
But among this group there is a young man with a secret–a secret that, in this time and place, is unthinkable to his peers.
When the others discover the truth, it will change each of them forever. They will all have blood on their hands.

This was a painful book to read.
Not only because of ‘THE SCENE’, (which was very difficult to get through, too), but because of the subject matter. I’m sure you’ve read/watched ‘THE GIRL NEXT DOOR’ by now… remember how you felt throughout that entire book/movie? THAT is why ODD MAN OUT is painful. That feeling of helplessness in the pit of (y)our stomach(s). The author’s writing made me feel like I was right there in cabin #7, but despite my screams… the story continued. Even when you think it’s over… NOPE! That’s when the questions start coming.
ODD MAN OUT is a story that is going to stick with me/us.
Sneaky, sneaky Mr. Newman ::winks::

“[Odd Man Out] pulls back the veil to reveal hatred and violence for what it truly is – far too common and simple.” – Rev. Amanda Hendler-Voss

I hope EVERYONE reads this book, and recommends it to friends. It is going to turn some people around, and that’s a good thing.

5/5 Knives for ODD MAN OUT

SHOUT OUT to Rev. Amanda Hendler-Voss, born and raised right here in Detroit, MI! Woot!
She wrote the book’s AFTERWARD, (I won’t bestow the ‘Michigan Madman’ moniker on her ;)). I’ve wanted to quote her throughout this whole review! It’s beautifully written – very strong, and motivational.

Keith: A Story of Friendship and Violence

Shadow Girl’s Rating – 5/5 Stars

⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆

We all have ‘those‘ days.
You know what I mean… those terrible days when you’ve fallen into a vortex of suck, and every. single. person. you encounter makes you want to stab them in the neck with a fork.
Daydreams of murder & mayhem consume us; we mentally debate various body disposal methods, and map out dump sites with a smile on our face while being talked down to by various people with superiority complexes.
Wait, what? You don’t?
Oh, well… me either.
I was talking about someone else.
I was referring to my buddy ‘SWIM’, not me.

John is having these days more often than not, and they’re not just at work anymore. He is starting to become a very dark, and angry person.
He gets lost in his thoughts as a means of escape, and his imagination is growing darker, and more dangerous each day – until he meets Keith.
His unexpected new friend shows him that his life doesn’t have to be boring, or degrading. Life can actually be fun! He can go to new places, do exciting things, meet interesting people…
For the first time in his life, John begins to enjoy himself, and he is finally actually happy.
However, he soon realizes that Keith is not as he appears. John jumped into this bromance with both feet, and he might have jumped in way too fast.
Keith has a [Tyler] ‘Durden-esque’ dark side; he is dangerous. He is rapidly getting out of control, and he is taking John along for the ride – whether he wants to go or not.

* Bonus points for the Throw a Punch Easter Egg on p25!

The Bloody Book Blogger gives ‘KEITH’ a glowing 5/5 rating  ⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆

PARALYSED by Matt Shaw

prisonbound

They had met in prison.
Dennis felt terrible about his crime, and judging from his beaten & bruised body… the other inmates didn’t find his deeds tolerable, either. Except for one man. One man befriended him when no one else could stand the sight of him. That man was Ryan, it this began a long, and very special friendship.

Things are different today, though.

Today is Dennis’s birthday. The card waiting for him from Ryan brings him no joy. He peeks his head into Ryan’s room to see if he’s awake, and the only words spoken to him by his best friend in the world are… “Please, kill me.”

PARALYSED is the new 5 star extreme horror novel from Matt Shaw. Continuing with his Black Cover series, and pushing boundaries of decency, Matt Shaw takes you on a journey with a serial killer and his accomplice, Dennis – a man who’ll do absolutely anything for his broken master.

This is promoted as one of Matt’s Black Cover extreme horror books, but it’s so much more than that. PARALYSED isn’t just a quick ride for cheap thrills – it’s a heartbreaking story about the friendship & love that developed between two of society’s cast offs. I don’t use that term lightly, either. I could feel my heart breaking as the story unfolded.  Only Matt could evoke this response from a tale about a convicted rapist, and his murderous best friend. (sl http://wp.me/p37DRX-1kO)

Like gore? Like horror? You’re in for a treat because Matt Shaw brings the crazy right to your kindle!  Stay up to date on All Things Matt, and be notified of new titles by following his Amazon author page, his official blog, and Matt Shaw Publications on Goodreads, and Facebook.

DWELLER by Jeff Strand

Eight year old Toby Floren was on an adventure, chasing bank-robbers, and disintegrating aliens in the woods behind his house. He didn’t mean to get lost.
His parents said that monsters aren’t real, and his dad didn’t see anything when they went back to find his knife.
It was just his imagination. That’s all. Monsters aren’t real.

cover

Toby is fifteen now, and uses the woods as a place of solace. They’re somewhere where he can be alone, get away from everything, and think. Seeing the monster scared him again now, just as much as before. But now he’s a little older, and that thing from seven years ago deserves another look…

Fifteen year old Toby found a friend when he found the creature living in the woods. A friend he calls Owen.

DWELLER is Toby and Owen’s story. It’s about a bond formed between two… souls, a friendship that lasts more than fifty years. Like any friendship, there are good times, and bad. Unlike most friendships, there is also blood, and an occasional body to deal with. To be completely honest, there are some parts that are very hard to read through. I was a weepy & snotty mess at times, but I also laughed out loud, too. And – I felt every emotion in between.

Thank you, Jeff  🙂
I want to believe in monsters now.
Everyone deserves an Owen in their life.

You can find DWELLER on Amazon & Goodreads.

UPDATE!!

Fans (like us) are awesome people.  People like Jeff make it easy for us to WANT to be awesome, though.  He’s never too busy to take the time to connect with us, and he honestly loves, and appreciates the little things we do just to try and get other people as excited as we are about his books!  I’ve said before that I’d love to meet Jeff, and it would probably feel like we were just catching up with an old buddy – inappropriate humor and all!  I’d love to meet other fans, too.

If we all got together one night for a #StrandFan get-together,  I wonder if he’d come and bail us all out of jail. (oh, you know it would happen!)  I bet he’d go to the station to bail us out, but somehow end up arrested with us!

I don’t know how I came across this video posted by #StrandFan Chris Morey, but I had to update this review to post it! This is #fangirling to the nth degree! I love this so much, and I can’t wait to stalk the rest of Chris’s videos to see what else is hidden in there.

Yeah… I bet Chris is a guy we could go to jail with…

“Have a listen to the Dweller song and learn something about the book!”

“Dweller is a horror novel written by Jeff Strand. Jeff Strand, if you’re not familiar with him, usually writes with an excellent blend of horror and comedy and is truly a unique voice in the genre today. You’ll fall in love with his style as soon as you get your hands on your copy of Dweller.”

PILLOWFACE by Kristopher Rufty

“Nothing good ever comes to the children in horror films”
~ Kristopher Rufty

School is out for the year, and Joel Olsen sees a summer vacation filled with all things horror! Along with the books and movies, he’s looking forward to the time he can spend working on his masks, and special FX.
He’s about to experience a horror filled vacation alright, but not the kind he planned for. The blood is real, and the bodies are piling up…

pillow

Joel lives with his older sister Haley. They’re still trying to adjust since losing both of their parents in a car accident about five months ago. Joel spends a lot of time by himself; Haley has to work full time, and he feels like he’s drifting apart from his best friends.

After his sister leaves for work, Joel is thinking about starting the yard work she asked him to do, but something at the far end of the lawn catches his eye. A body! There’s person lying in his yard – covered in blood, and near death. The masked man is just like the killers in the movies he loves so much. Instead of getting scared and running away, Joel brings him inside and helps him get patched up.

It’s a strange summer – a killer helping a boy with yard work, and a boy helping a killer get rid of a body. They can see something in each other, a common thread, and their friendship is immediate. But, when Joel finally realizes that he’s gotten in too deep, it’s too late – and there is serious trouble coming.

Usually, when a friendship falls apart you get your CD’s back and part ways. When this friendship is put to the test… one of them might not survive.

THE HORROR MOVIE SOCIETY by M. Patton

THE HORROR MOVIE SOCIETY held it’s first official ‘meeting’ in 1994 – on October 31st to be exact.
Now, four years later, the six members have gathered together for first reunion of The Horror Movie Society.

HorrorMovieSociety

The bond formed between horror lovers is strong.
Scream Queens, and classic kill scenes.
There is something special about finding another person who gets just as excited as you do when the new issue of Fangoria arrives in the mail.
The passion isn’t just for the movies, but for everything that makes the movies what they are. The actors, directors, f/x creators, etc. Everything.

The Society was formed when it’s six members met in college, and their monthly ‘meetings’ soon became 24 hour movie marathons filled with classic 80’s horror, and fast food. It became impossible to find the time for meetings once they graduated, so everyone was excited for their first reunion.

What the six members don’t realize is that while they are inside watching movies, an escaped serial killer is lurking right outside of the living room window. He is watching the movies with them, and he’s taking notes.
The first reunion of The Horror Movie Society might also be it’s last.

ELROD MCBUGLE ON THE LOOSE by Jeff Strand

Elrod Mc Bugle is just trying to stay out if trouble, and survive his first year at Greenwater Junior High. Too bad LIFE keeps getting in the way.

A comedy for kids . . . and adults who were warped as kids!

ElrodMcB.Cover Pic

This needs to be a movie. No, wait… a SERIES of movies, like the one’s based off of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, but funny 😉 (only kidding).
Movies or books – the world needs more Elrod McBugle.

Elrod McBugle is a normal kid, with a normal family, and normal friends. Things just have a tendency to get weird when he’s involved.
It’s not his fault – it’s just harmless shenanigans gone awry. Like when he does his own science project on a science project, (along with that one friend who will lick just about anything), and it becomes a delicious, money-making [mis]adventure. Or when he interviews a teacher to investigate rumours about her being an axe murderer, and gets way more information than he ever wanted.
There’s also friendship, first-love, a bully, and insane squirrels.

I’m a horror junkie – we all know this. But, I am really enjoying Jeff Strand’s young adult books! Like I’ve said before – it’s up to us to help raise the next generation of horror lovers correctly. Introduce your spawn to Jeff’s writing now, and soon the day will come…
That perfect moment…
You present your child with your original copy of Dead Clown BBQ…
…and they smile.
