Published June 25, 2017 by Shadow Girl

I killed a man so it is only right I am put to death…

The execution was scheduled and the last meal consumed.
The coolness of the poisons entering the blood system
slowed the heart rate and sent him on the way to Judgement.
He had paid for his crime with years on Death Row waiting for this moment –
now he would pay for them again as the judgment continued…

Matt Shaw,  author of Sick B*stards, PORN and 2016: A Year of Horror and Pain, is giving us a #FREE DOWNLOAD of this short, psychological horror.  HURRY! Limited Time Offer!!

No Sugar, No Spice, Nothing Nice

2017 marks the 8th Annual
Women in Horror Month!

wihm8-logo-nogrrl-black-xl

This inclusive and positive movement is open to everyone, just as the horror genre should be.

Women in Horror Month (WiHM) is an international, grassroots initiative, which encourages supporters to learn about and showcase the underrepresented work of women in the horror industries. Whether they are on the screen, behind the scenes, or contributing in their other various artistic ways, it is clear that women love, appreciate, and contribute to the horror genre.

WiHM celebrates these contributions to horror throughout the year via the official WiHM blog, Ax Wound, The Ax Wound Film Festival, and with the official WiHM event/project database in February. This database—in conjunction with the WiHM social media fan base—actively promotes do-it-yourself annual film screenings, blogs/articles, podcasts, and any other form of creative media with the ultimate goal of helping works by and featuring women reach a wider audience.

ZAC’S HAUNTED HOUSE – A Visual Novel by Dennis Cooper

Published July 27, 2016 by Shadow Girl

CINEMATIC LITERATURE

Dennis Cooper has broken the cool people’s internet with Zac’s Haunted House.
It’s part of a “cycle-in-progress of novels” inspired by visual artist Zac Farley.

#ZHH DESCRIPTION

Dennis Cooper’s tenth novel, [#ZHH], bears all of the earmarks of his legendary and controversial work – intricate formal & stylistic play, disturbing content, an exploration of the borderline between fantasy and reality, concern for the emotions and dilemmas of youth, etc. – but it is both something unique in his body of writing and possibly something of a world’s first in the novel genre itself.

Instead of gathering materials from language, sentences, and the developmental character and narrative possibilities allowed and restricted by written fiction, Cooper has turned his characteristic inventiveness on the animated gif, employing gifs’ tightly wound, looping visual possibilities, nervous rhythms, tiny storylines, and their status as dismembered, twitching eye candy to compose a short novel of unexpected complexity, strangeness, poetry and comedy.

“Zac’s Haunted House” is as fun and eerie to explore as its namesake attraction, and, the more closely one searches and decodes its carefully detailed sequences and construction, a deep and fraught fiction puzzle.

THE FUNERAL: An Extremely Twisted SHORT STORY by Matt Shaw

Published May 3, 2016 by Shadow Girl

“Before a funeral, there needs to be a death.”

WARNING:

This is A SHORT STORY. It is intended for KU members who have been requesting short, sick, bedtime stories. As part of KU they are able to download this title for free.  If you wish for a longer story to read, do not purchase any of the F*cked-Up Shorts titles.  A good place to start would be The Black Cover Books (for lovers of extreme horror).

* What doesn’t kill you fucks you up mentally. *

The Funeral deals with grief, loss and redemption.
“You can expect twists & turns – be ready to feel a wide range of emotion.”
Never has a truer sentence been written.
Jason is a character that I can relate to.
He’s going through a bad time in his life right now. He is consumed with destructive thoughts, and wrestling with personal demons. Throughout the entire story I found myself laughing at one sentence, close to tears in the next sentence, and nodding my head in agreement at another.
Jason answers a late night phone call that gives him an ‘unexpected distraction’ from his self destructive thoughts, and it’s time for our second ride on that roller coaster!
It is so easy to see parts of myself in Jason, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who will feel this way.

I often find myself wondering if parts of certain stories are based on real events in the author’s life. I did that a lot in this book, especially when Jason thought about moments of happiness that the he shared with his mom. (Matt – go hug your mom!) Not every memory is a great one, there are regrets – just like real life.

The ending was a very unexpected script twist! Trust me… this is one that you wont see coming.

*BONUS POINTS for the ‘failed gas oven suicide attempt’!!
(Depression + OCD = hilarity!)
*EVEN MORE BONUS POINTS for Jason’s reasons to pass on each method on the internet’s ‘top ten’ list.

SNUFF: A F*cked Up Short by Matt Shaw

SNUFF is loosely based on Dan Brownlie‘s idea for a faux snuff film (‘2 Girls, 1 Victim’ – screenplay also written by Matt Shaw).

Expect twists galore and sheer brutality!

Nikki and Jamie have taken SNUFF mainstream* – serving up punishment when the court system fails, and vigilante justice has never been sexier!

*Well, as mainstream as you can be online without getting caught. There are actually only a select few who know of the show, each member personally invited.

Tonight’s episode of ‘Two Girls, One Victim’ has a very special guest – a rapist named Jack Goodall. Specific tools chosen just for the guest of honor are laid out,  and gleaming under the set’s lights. Pliers, a hammer, nails, screws, hacksaws, piano wire, rope, duct tape, an adult sex-toy, and what appeared to be a small bottle of lube. Things might get messy, and the members are definitely going to get their money’s worth from this show!

You can find Snuff: An Extreme Horror SHORT STORY
on Amazon, and Goodreads.

WATCHING, WAITING: A F*cked Up Short by Matt Shaw

Matt Shaw is known for his extreme stories. He enjoys pushing boundaries and making people feel uncomfortable. Usually. This is not one of those tales. There is not much blood and guts. Some tales just do not need it. There are, though, twists and turns aplenty…

Will has only one thing on his mind… revenge.

He stalks Travis in the shadows, watching… waiting…

I thought I knew where this story was going, but I was wrong! This is a heart-wrenching short – love, loss, and not knowing how to go on once the unthinkable happens. Is there anything that can ever make you feel better – revenge? Forgiveness?

This was a hard journey to take.

You can find Watching, Waiting: A SHORT Story on Amazon and Goodreads.
