The Devil’s List is a dark tale of insanity and horror from Terry M. West. In the small Texas town of Pleasant Storm during the summer of 1985, Chuck Beall embarks on a journey of brutality and madness. Convinced he’s possessed by a demon that compels him to kill, Chuck’s murderous attention shifts from random transients to those he blames the most for his abusive past.
I see the sign welcoming me to Pleasant Storm and I get a warm, fuzzy feeling. It feels like coming home, and this is right where I’m supposed to be. It’s good to be back.
Chuck Beall has been picked on his whole life. Family, school mates, town folk, no one missed a chance to remind he was different, unwanted, and unloved. They beat it into him hard enough that he’d never forget.
Tormented, and wandering around late one night out by the old Campbell property, Chuck comes face to face with a demon his mama used to tell legends about – The Plat-Eye.
Now that he’s not walking alone anymore, it’s time to turn the sins back onto the sinners, and everything is about to change. Revenge is going taste sweet, and warm.
Here’s a little refresher as to what happened in the Games 4: Maze…
Sara and Donny created a pain maze and forced people to go room to room, which eventually led to painful deaths. Sara was dealing with being pregnant, and after an injury she was put on bedrest for the sake of the unborn child. Donny decided to train the survivor of the maze as his own partner.
The survivor of the pain maze is doing everything in his power to become Donny’s best friend.
This book picks up where that book left off.
Scenes of graphic violence. You’ve been warned.
I think that this is my favorite book in this series. Let’s see, how much can I say without spoiling anything…
Book 5 feels like it has come full circle, everything has been touched upon, thought out, and dealt with, so knowing that Book 6 is coming feels like an added bonus.
I also love how the author’s different worlds are weaving together at the edges – connections are made that make us feel special for knowing these little details of ‘insider information’.
I appreciate Sara a little more than I did before. I know I have see-sawed with my opinion of her since meeting her, but I’m happy with where I’ve landed with regards to her character.
I absolutely adore Rick, and was pleasantly surprised by his arrival. He’s quirky and seems honestly friendly. I’m happy to see that he’s eating better.
I think that the idea of a seventh book isn’t out of the question. Games 7 – The Prequel: Andy’s Story could hold some very mind blowing groundwork.

The world has gone to Hell. A virus has seemingly come from no where, bringing with it a number of conspiracy theories as to its origin. Some of the theories are outlandish whilst some have an eerie ring of possible truth around them. But, as the world goes into lock down with people living in isolation only allowed out of their homes for essential journeys, people soon realise there are greater things to worry about than COVID-19.
As the virus continues to get a grip of the world, mankind reveals the many monsters within.
People all over the world are [re]reading ‘THE STAND’ to discuss “similarities” on terror driven social media, and apocalyptic horror stories are driving the conspiracy theorists to crash Reddit.
I think that ‘THE TAINTED SOULS‘ is exactly what we need to help us get through this… something to REALLY terrify us!! It helps us realize that things aren’t as bad as they could be…
This is a great collaboration between Shaw & Shaun. They sure know how to remind us that the real monsters are human.

Acrotomophilia: The deriving of sexual gratification from fantasies or acts involving an amputee.
After Willard’s wife was disfigured in a car accident, he found himself to be even more attracted to her.
Then his obsession grew more everyday.
“Sometimes in life, people have a knack for things. Some people have a knack for art, or playing a musical instrument. It’s almost as if they were born with some sort of talent. Willard’s knack just happened to be abducting women and keeping them tied up.”
After an accident that causes his wife of 40 years to lose her leg, Willard sits in the hospital at her bedside and tries to sort through the various feelings he’s having.
And which one of those feelings – exactly, is causing the tent to form at the front of his pants?

‘The waiting is the hardest part’
The Life of Chuck is told in reverse – but don’t worry…this isn’t Memento – it’s a great story that shines light on the good parts of being alive.
I feel in love with Chuck during his midlife years. You might fall in his beginning, or end, but let me assure you – you will trip.
And, man…that cat can dance!

If It Bleeds is a sister story to The Outsider, (and the Bill Hodges trilogy).
Holly has come into her own, and has become quite the little bad ass. This is her first ‘solo outing’, and she sure took care of this story! I hope there is more of her in the future.
I also think I need to re-read The Outsider.
Rat centers on a writer who needs to prove to himself that he can get the novel that’s inside of him – out. (It’s something that hasn’t worked too good for him in the past).
With a little help from some southern NyQuil, a half-dead snarky rat, and a fever dream, the words pour out of his soul. Those words aren’t free though… is the cost worth it?
