THE LAST MOTEL by Brett McBean

Published May 4, 2017 by Shadow Girl

They only wanted to stay one night.
But one night can last a lifetime at… THE LAST MOTEL.

The Lodgepole Pine Motel is the setting for nerve-wracking terror when a group of unsuspecting travelers find themselves trapped in a nightmare of violence and mayhem. Madge Fraiser is the kindly old owner of the rustic mountain hideaway, which, during one long night, will become awash with blood, as the guests are stalked one by one by a sadistic killer. Who will live to see the dawn, and who will learn that this is one motel where checking in can be murder?

Here’s a great question for everyone…
THE LAST MOTEL was published 07.31.2011 by LegumeMan Books*(awww… I MISS LegumeMan!!), so why the fuk did I JUST find it?! SOMEONE really should have recommended this to me years ago! Finger Of Shame, my friends. Finger Of Shame.

A husband and wife…
A pair of petty criminals…
A young man…
And a perverse serial killer…

It’s Halloween night, and the Lodgepole motel is seeing more action than it has in years. The owner can feel trouble coming as she checks in each of the guests. None of them can shake the feeling of déjà vu as they meet, and start to get to know each other.  They’ll soon find out they are all linked by events that happened earlier that night –  each link/event being more fukked up & twisted than the last!

I’m not going to take the chance of ruining this story for you, so as I’m shutting up – you need to go get this book & read it!! Hurry up, so we can talk about it!! I’m DYING!

Michael Ling’s movie adaptation of Edward Lee’s ‘THE BIGHEAD’

Published September 23, 2015 by Shadow Girl

The Book They Said Could Never be Filmed…

…Is now the movie you won’t believe
anyone dared to make…

It’s been about a year since I reviewed the book The Bighead by Edward Lee – (see review HERE).  I had heard rumors at the time about there being a movie adaptation in the works, but anyone who’s read the book knows that a movie of this book would be very hard to make/release!

…the more I read, the more convinced I became – convinced that the film cannot be done! At least, not in regards to the book!
This graphic sex, rape, bodily fluid, and scat filled book was enough to literally make me nauseous – almost losing the battle once or twice!
If you haven’t read the book, then the movie might turn out to be one of the best horror / torture porn movies since the original HOSTEL. But, movie goers who did read the book first – they’ll be expecting #MurderPorn/#TorturePorn, and nothing short of Bighead’s descriptive culinary experiences will abide. It’s going to be a rough road for director Michael Lee. As for the fans – it’s hard to say…                    ~ Shadow Girl 5/18/2014

As luck would have it… someone shared my post with Michael Lee, and he was awesome enough to chat with me about it. (comments, updates, and links are all posted HERE).

I just messaged Michael to get permission to share a video with you, and he’s still up for doing a little Q & A with yours truely – YAY!

::excuse me whilst I fangirl::

You gotta love my Michigan Madmen!  So… yes, you heard me correctly – ‘share a video with you’! It’s time to put the kiddies to bed, put away the snacks, and grab your huggy pillow to watch

Edward Lee’s The Bighead-The ROUGH Cut

“This is our initial cut of the flick, while it is a bit rough (in more ways than one), we wanted to share it with our fans as thanks for all the support! Hope y’all enjoy it, and remember to hide the kids before watching!!”           ~ Michael Ling

There’s a ‘DARK PLACES’ movie on the horizon

Published January 16, 2015 by Shadow Girl

I was just checking out a column by Max Booth III5 Most Anticipated Book Adaptations of 2015, and I see that DARK PLACES by Gillian Flynn is heading to the big screen in 2015.

I think DARK PLACES is my favorite book by Gillian Flynn, and I’m excited to see the movie. I’m a little scared, too. Book lovers know that film adaptations are usually never what we hope they would be, or believe that they could be. I’m holding out hope, and will see it for sure – the book is amazing, and makes me wish that there was an underground Kill Club to belong to. Maybe there is… the first rule of Kill Club is… wait, never mind. Wrong book.

This just led me to think –
What book would you LOVE to see made into a movie?
What is your most anticipated book to movie release? (mine is THE SUMMER I DIED by Ryan c. Thomas)
And, this will open up a lot of doors here, but… What is your most disliked book to movie adaptation?
