In 1956, a young boy drowned in Crystal Lake. It was a tragedy that could have been avoided, if the camp counselors weren’t dirty sinners! Sneaking off for a little hanky panky instead of watching the campers turned out to be a mistake that the world paid for – thirteen times.
At the same time, but a different place, young Larry Travers is being terrorized by his fellow campers on the banks of Diamond Creek. This is not a summer of love.
In 1975, Larry Travers sharpens his axe, dons his new mask, and returns to Camp Diamond Creek after almost twenty years. This is the year that ‘Pigface’ gets his revenge! 1975 becomes the summer of slaughter, and Pigface is happier than a pig in shit! He loves it so much, that he returns in ’76, ’77, and ’78.
The summer of ’78 didn’t end well. His killing spree…
Blood Bound Books is proud to announce our first charitable anthology: Blood Bank!
Charity is a cornerstone of our company, and our three flagship initiatives can be foundhere. So when Mark Scioneaux asked for our help in bringing his anthology idea to life, we knew we couldn’t resist.
So far the T.O.C. features: Neil Gaiman, Jo Kaplan, Jeremy Robert Johnson, Lucy Leitner, and Patrick Frievald, and we are signing new authors every week.
As more details become available, including cover art and an official release date for 2022, we’ll announce them on our blog and social media pages. Proceeds of the anthology sales will be split between Read Better Be Better in Arizona and Hagar’s House in New Orleans.
Please take a moment to find out about their missions:
Hey guys! First off, let me apologize again for the lack of content. Until things get straightened out over here, it’s going to be pretty bare bones.

The authors are reading and supporting each other – it’s all very cool.

That invisible line… the one that signifies where you shouldn’t go beyond, or you’ve had it up to…
Yeah. That one.
For the longest time I thought I was just a freak, that I didn’t have that line in the sand. Maybe I was born a serial killer who wasn’t living up to her potential? We can all let out that collective sigh of relief, cuz I DO HAVE IT! It was all fresh, clean, and pink. Then Rayne skips by and flicks it.
Seriously, I’m having a good ole time, then one sentence walks up and kicks me in the crotch towards the end. Shit got too real for about 17 words. Thank Dog she comes back and finishes with the blackest of humor that is sure to offend the masses 🖤
I’m giving you no synopsis. Go in blind like I did, trust that you’re spending your 50¢ on an author you know you like. I’m serious, 50¢!! You can’t beat that with a stick!
This one is not available on Amazon kids. Do I have to post more of a warning label than that? This fact led me to another kick ass site that you must check out if you find yourself looking for more fun than Amazon can provide. (With a capital ‘F’, and to the nth degree!) Go check out GODLESS for your copy of Muckbang Princess, and a ton of other titles that you’ll die if you don’t own. Like… they have BLOOD FOR YOU! The G.G. Allin tribute anthology I’ve wanted since they were taking submissions, tee hee hee! The rock stars of Splatterpunk are selling their wares, also some OG authors you’ll be remembering fondly while you kiss your stimulus goodbye, one page at a time!
Let’s hope you’re not like me, and curiosity doesn’t get the best of you. But you know what Stephen King says… “Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought him back!” If you do feel the need to look deeper into this subject matter, set aside a hunk of time, and don’t go forth with a full belly. I’m intrigued by the strangest things, and fell down the rabbit hole. I’ve learned some things, read a good book, and got to chat with you a bit – it’s been a good day.
Or, I guess what I really mean is WHO are you reading? It’s INTERNAL WOMAN’S DAY, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. Women are killin’ it in extreme horror these days, too! They’ve always been there, but they’ve been gaining ground and shaking things up in the Boy’s Club. I don’t think there’s an official count anywhere, but if there was, I’d bet that the winner’s of the 2020 SplatterDome¹ wore heels.
I’m going to be celebrating #IWD2021 by reading one of BBB’s favorite authors, while wearing my favorite pair of CFM pumps, and red lipstick. Sam West, aka Collette Metcalf, just published Langdon Manor: An Extreme Horror Novella in January, and has Tales From The Edge Of The Sea: An Extreme Horror Collection Within A Wraparound Story (available for pre-order), being published this week! (fingers crossed that it’s all based in Broadgate!!! I’m so excited!!!) Sam West has been a name synonymous with splatterpunk for the better part of a decade (you go, Glen Coco!), but she’s also publishing psychological thrillers under the name Collette Heather! KICKING ASS AND TAKING NAMES!There is so much I could say about paving the way, and opening doors, but I’ll save it for another Coffee Talk and just say that she deserves to be read on IWD! (besides if I wait any longer to read this I might die! Or develop a tick of some kind…)
A challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change. So let’s all choose to challenge. How will you help forge a gender equal world? Celebrate women’s achievement. Raise awareness against bias. Take action for equality.
Rayne Havok is another name you should recognize. KILLSTREME is the perfect Splatterpunk IWD read, the Girl Power / Sisterhood vibe is strong, and you might feel a little empowered after reading it. Or, you might puke. Either way…
If you’re a regular here, Sea Caummisar’s name should sound very familiar. I don’t know if it was luck, or fate, but I stumbled upon her very first book when it was still the only book, and we’ve been buds ever since. I’m a few reviews behind though, and need to remedy that shit with a quickness!! I just finished Dr. Circumcision, Quack MD, and that was… uncomfortable, to say the very least. Plus, I can’t wait till you hear about My #2 Fan 😱, (available to pre-order now!), and the Sanger Entertainment series is turning out to be a much more than I ever dreamed of!! I’m still astonished at how fast and hard she hit the scene, and made a name for herself. She shows no signs of slowing down any time soon, either. A Splatterpunk IWD could not be had without her – grab a book and celebrate!
There are so many women in Extreme Horror / Splatterpunk these days, so this could be the perfect excuse for you to read someone new. Check out someone above if you haven’t already, or try (in no particular order) Nikki Noir, Monica O’Rourke, DJ Doyle, Allisha McAdoo, Sian Rosé, Christine Morgan, … Ok, I do have things to get done today, and a pantsless Zoom appointment at 3:00. But these should get you started! (If I have brain constipation, and forgot to mention you, please don’t take it personally! I either saved your name for Women In Not So Extreme Horror, another sub-genre like Horrotica, you don’t identity as female anymore, or simply just forgot with no malicious intent. Still friends?)
✒️ AUTHOR CONNECTION 🖋️
I’m still working on the Author Connect pages… waaayy more involved than my initial thoughts, but turning out beautiful so far. Until the official Author Connection goes live, were posting old school …
Sam West / Collette Metcalf: Facebook, Amazon, Goodreads, as Collette Heather on Amazon. You can email her here.
¹No matter how badly I wish it WAS a thing, the SplatterDome is sadly not a thing. It COULD BE, though! Who wants to publish the Girls vs. Boys anthology?! K. Trapp Jones, this has your name all over it! (I’d just like my name in small print in the book somewhere… I’m kidding!! But this idea DOES kick ass in stilleto heels 👠 I’m going to send a copy of this to The Splatter Club and see if anyone else agrees!)

Synopsis / Amazon Product Description
I don’t know if I would have found this book if I wasn’t in the Splatterpunk FB group, and it certainly helped that the author is there, too. But, I must say, those guys DO know their horror, and have damn fine taste, so… it would have been mentioned. Either way, now I need to make sure you never wonder the same thing – you need to check out Daniel Volpe’s latest story ‘Billy Silver‘!
The story is dark, it’s gritty, and I kinda wanted to wash my hands when it was over. It’s the perfect backdrop for the characters you’re about to meet. You feel the loneliness, the abandonment, the despair… Hell, you almost feel the needle go into your arm! Perfect time to add a trigger warning, wouldn’t ya say? There is some intense addiction horror here, so blahbidy blahbidy trigger warning.
We interrupt this review with breaking news…I just learned that I’m not allowed to use Addiction Horror as a category. I like to make sure I save my drafts every couple minutes, and the latest draft would not save. “You are not allowed to assign those perimeters”… WTF? I back tracked and tested, and it’s those two words next to each other. Well. Alright. Apologies to Mark Mathews, I guess. This is weird, I used the term with Aron Beauregard recently with no trouble. This must be a new thing. I must research! (I can still say ‘fuck’, so I won’t go into panic mode just yet.) (and p.s., I love how this post’s tags read like ‘101 Reasons To Read This Book!’ ) Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming –
Where were we? So, after a particularly shitty night, Billy wakes up and those all too familiar feelings start crawling in… he needs to score, and soon. This time his hustle is… selling his skin! Lol, no! Not like that! He goes to a new tattoo shop that is about to open, and he is going to let an artist work on him so she can refresh her skills before the shop opens for business. (I’d do for a hundred bucks.) He can feel a difference in his body almost immediately. He’s essentially traded one addiction for another, but this new desire isn’t like any drug he’s ever done before. He doesn’t want the high. He wants pain. When he finally gets home and gives into the urges that overtake him, self-mutilation doesn’t even come close to describing the things he’s doing! He just fucking brutalizes his self, (loves it), but the violence and depravity can’t satiate the dark urges. He needs more – so he goes out and gets it!!
It’s 🎉 time for another warning! Yay! Some animal violence is hinted at in here, but it’s not bad. I don’t think it’s much to worry about, but blahbidy blahbidy trigger warning.
This is a great book, it’s different – no cookie cutter, or assembly line horror here. I love it! I’m excited to go pick up SCARED OF THEDARK, and BITS OF BONE. All three books are available on KU, so you can read for free if you’re a subscriber.
2020 may have been a dumpster fire of a year in every other aspect, but we’ve definitely gotten some great books to read! Extreme Horror has finally gotten some recognition. Books by new EH authors are flying off the shelves, and our favorite EH authors continue to disturb and terrify us in exciting new ways. I’m proud to be a member of this community, in good company with some truly outstanding people!
What book has made a definite impression on you this year? Talk to me! Post your answers, and whatever else you’d like, in the comments. Until next time – stay healthy, happy, and horrifying 👹
Jeff is going to be so famous. He is already well known, but I mean ooper-duper famous. Watch and see. I also predict that AUTUMN BLEEDS INTO WINTER is going to be made into a movie. It’s going to be the kind of movie that has you yelling at the screen, cursing at the characters, and pacing the floor. I did all three while reading the book! The author picks you up, and sets you down right in the story, and I couldn’t tear myself away until the very end.
Curtis has had a pretty normal life up till now, normal enough for any fourteen year old in 1979. He knows that kids are missing – being snatched up by an unknown psychopath, because nothing like that really happens to you, right? Especially in Fairbanks, where the darkest it gets this time of year would remind you of early evening anywhere else. Bad things happen in the dark… Don’t they?
You remember being fourteen… (if you don’t, you will! It all came rushing back while reading this!), sleepovers, junk food, bad jokes, farts, all of it happening with your best friend by your side… Jeff paints the awkwardness of adolescence so perfectly that I’d find myself cringing I’m remembrance of my teenage years. I’m hoping this one example can convey everything I’m trying to explain… The boys are sleeping over at Curtis’s house, and they get into an argument. For one reason or another, Todd gets way more pissed than usual and he’s just done. Eff this, I’m going home. Been there, both sides. Remember, it’s 1979, you don’t wake the ‘rents for these things. Just after Todd leaves, Curtis decides he needs to follow him. Not because he wants to apologize, or to make sure Todd makes it home OK. No. He’s going after him so he can scare the shit out of him before he makes it home! It’s not being childish. It’s not being mean. It’s being fourteen, with your best friend. Before he gets the chance to scare him, Curtis sees a car pull up and someone start talking to Todd. His mind races as he watches his best friend willingly get into a strangers car at 1:am, and drive away. While he’s trying to think of any reason that this isn’t what he knows in his heart that it is, Curtis realizes something very important… he knows who is driving that car!
That’s just the beginning of the story. Just wait until you see how tough it is for a fourteen year old to get any adult to take him seriously, and how many wrong turns he makes while trying to find the answers about what happened to his best friend. I know, I usually don’t give details like that. But A: we already know what’s happening from reading the synopsis, and B: I had to try to explain how Jeff is able to make you ride shotgun through everything that happens, experiencing everything as it happens. It’s a draining experience, so much happens and this story went places I never expected. You’ve got to read this – highest of recommendations here.
