RIP Zombie Boy

Artist & Tattoo Enthusiast Rick Genest

Dead by Suicide at 32

Though horror fans have had Rick Genest aka Zombie Boy on their radars since day one, the artist and tattoo enthusiast achieved worldwide prominence after appearing in Lady Gaga’s video for Born This Way. Indeed, his face is one in a billion; it’s permanently modified to look like a skull, including exposed brains on his cranium. Indeed, the majority of Genest’s skin was inked.

The Montreal native passed away on Wednesday evening at the age of 32. Reports indicate he died by suicide. Thoughts go out to his friends, and family during this difficult period. His bravery and uniqueness were an inspiration for self-described freaks across the world.

Weird! I was JUST Googling this guy – he kept popping up in my searches for cover art because, well, his face just fits most of the stories I write. I wonder if the permanence of his decisions had anything to do with his decision? I suppose he should have moved to Hollywood? I won’t say it’s a shame, because our lives are the ONLY thing we own (mostly) – I reserve the right, and all that. It’s just, weird… like “plate of shrimp” weird (Repo Man)…

I was wondering the same thing, but then I tried really hard to not speculate – the media will blow everything out of proportion soon enough.
I’ve seen videos of Zombie Boy, and read a lot about him, (I even used an earlier image of him for one of my #BleedingMemes). It makes me sad, even though I didn’t know him.

As for that ‘plate of shrimp’ – it’s the same phenomenon that happens after you learn something new (like a word you didn’t know, or a kind of shrimp you never tried)… within three days you’re hearing or seeing it everywhere 😉
