“LEGACIES LIVE ON THE TONGUES OF OTHERS” – j.thorn
Jack & Kole are at the old abandoned cabin in the woods, hanging out, shooting bottles with a BB gun, and telling stories. They debate what they believe happened to the teenagers in that very spot more than 20 years ago. Jack told his parents he was at Kole’s house, and Kole told his parents he was at Jack’s. The boys enjoyed the cabins solitude, until there is a terrible accident & they realize that no one can come to help if no one knows where they are.
AT OWN RISK:
The lives of the strangers who visit the Washateria aren’t much more than meets the eye, but these strangers have something in common. They’ve each done deeds that are far dirtier than their clothes. Deeds that they cannot hide from the man who sits in the shadows to observe them.
The next time you’ve got something to hide, let me suggest using the laundromat on the other side of town.
HEART OF OCHRE:
As he swiftly moves over the countryside, sensing the familiarity of places he passes, he knows he’s not wandering on his own. Something is guiding him, pulling him towards where he needs to be… to learn the truth that he has, until now, refused to acknowledge.
This was written with a nod towards E. A. Poe’s Cask Of Amontillado. I’m making note of that before proceeding with the story, only because The Cask Of Amontillado is the first Edgar Allen Poe story I remember falling in love with soo many moons ago. Even though I can’t remember exactly how old I was, I remember that I wasn’t even in high-school yet. About TEN DAYS… It is a story about love, betrayal, and vengeance
“IT TAKES TEN DAYS TO DIE. The Gods give you time to devour your sins before, Call of Judgement, and they laugh at the weak.”
True love lost, slowly. Torturiously slow. I felt the sadness
in the narrator’s story, I actually felt betrayed myself. The love of my life, slowly turning from me and looking toward someone else. My heart was breaking as he spoke of Sasha’s heart growing colder with each passing moon, as he watched her affections warm toward Hane.
FALL FANTASY DAYS:
Scott is wandering through the old amusement park, reminiscing about times spent there with Terry. Days of laughter mixed with nightmarish tears of the past.
John is on the train ride of his nightmares. After the conductor punched his ticket, and urged him to stay in his seat, -for his own safety- , he takes his chances and heads toward the closed dining car. When he gets a bad feeling & changes his mind to head back, that’s when his real nightmare begins.
